Step 1: HAVE FUN!

The Peterborough Kids Triathlon is designed to encourage kids to be active and healthy while introducing them to the joy of triathlon. Our emphasis is on participation and having fun in a safe supportive environment.

Step 2: Register

In store or phone registration is available through Runner's Life,

174 Charlotte Street, Peterborough,
705 876 8960.
runnerslife.ca

Online registration is also available.

Our race is capped at 250 participants and traditionally sells out so be sure to register early to avoid disappointment. Race day registration is not available. Online registration closes at 6PM on the Wednesday prior to race day.

Two weeks prior to race day your entry price will increase and your T-shirt size plus a customized race bib are no longer guaranteed, so be sure to register early!

Age is your age on the day of the race.

T-shirt size options include Youth XS Small Medium Large and are available to try on at Runner's Life.

Step 3: Train

Kids with the basics in swimming, biking, and running should be able to happily complete their race. However, a little practice will go a long way. Consider trying the distances and transitioning from swim to bike to run, maybe even scout out Beavermead Park beforehand.

Step 4: Race Kit Pick Up

Avoid race morning line ups and pick up your race kit at Runner's Life, 174 Charlotte Street, Peterborough, from 12 to 5pm on the Friday prior to race day. Or, race day kit pick up is also available at Beavermead Park. Inside you will find your race number, t-shirt, and swim cap.

Step 5: Race Day Morning

Plan to arrive at least 1 hour before your event. Pick up your race kit if you have not already done so the day before. Next, attach your race number to the front of your chosen race top. Then, find the body marking station to get your race number written on your arm and leg - just like the pros!

Stop by the Wild Rock tent to have your bike safety checked.

Now, it’s time to listen for the announcer who will tell you when the transition area is open. When transition is open, set up your bike and set out your helmet, shoes, and any other gear you need. Don't forget to remember how to find your bike after the swim, and how to get back to your gear after the bike!

Step 6: The Main Event

Head down to the beach ready to swim then... Ready, set GO!

Volunteers are available to help you through every step of the way. Parents are not allowed on the course so they will be running around like crazy to keep up and cheer you along.

SCHEDULE:
We try our best to stick to this but be sure to listen to our race day announcer in case we get a little off schedule as the day goes on

SWIM: First- swim cap required, goggles and flotation device optional. Some racers swim with a top and their race number already on, some wear water shoes that they can also bike and run in -- lots of choices!

BIKE: Second- you must put your bike helmet on before you grab your bike. Then walk/run your bike through transition area, then hop on and peddle! Afterwards it goes in reverse; Dismount, walk/run your bike through transition, return your bike to its spot, and only then take your helmet off. Lots of volunteers will help if needed.

RUN: Third- Yup, run!

The age groups who are required to do more than 1 lap are responsible for keeping track of their own laps during the bike and run.

Step 7: Finish

Good work! You have earned that finisher's medal!

Step 8: Post Race

Don't forget to cheer the next kids along too!
